The space age technology in which we live is
still in its infancy. As it grows, the need for technicians
to build the machines, make the parts, and give input of
new ideas is overwhelming.
As the machinist grows in knowledge, careers begin to open.
Tool and die making, drafting, metallurgy, tool design,
instruction, engineering, vocational teaching, production
control, and quality control are only a few areas in which
he/she may branch out.
In the Machine Tool Technology program at West Kentucky
Community & Technical College, students are provided
the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary
for entry-level employment into one of the many jobs related
to the machining trade. In addition to the instruction given
on machining tool operations, each student also attends
classes for plane geometry, trigonometry, and blueprint
reading. The program adheres to industrial standards on
safety, work attitudes, and work performances. The curriculum
is based on an industry-validated and state-approved competency
list. |
