AIR CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY
(Email Haydon Bloodworth)

People always have sought ways to make their environment more comfortable. Today, heating and air conditioning systems control temperature, humidity, and the total air quality in residential and commercial buildings.

The Air Conditioning Technology Program at West Kentucky Community & Technical College provides fundamentals and advanced instruction in the various skills that apply to this field. Related terminology, electricity, electronics, mechanics, tool use, physics, chemistry, metalworking, safety, and environmental procedures are included in the course content.

Most courses are offered with a lab component to allow hands-on training. The text and curricula are industry validated and approved by both the state and the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute.

Career opportunities are varied in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating techniques.

Virtually every building contains some type of HVAC/Refrigeration equipment. A new and rapidly expanding awareness of the environment is requiring that technicians be nationally certified to handle various refrigerants safely. This single change has the potential to rapidly increase the need for properly trained and certified entry-level technicians.

Several credential options are available in this program and include: (all documents in RTF format)
