DIESEL TECHNOLOGY
(Email Dennis Hibbs)

The Diesel Mechanics Program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in the medium/heavy duty truck, farm equipment service, or construction equipment repair. The program is offered at the Purchase Training Center at 234 Pioneer Industrial Drive just north of Mayfield, KY.

The program emphasizes a combination of theory and practical applications necessary for successful employment. Program completion requires 150 hours of co-op practicum work experience. This program is NATEF (National Automotive Technicians' Education Foundation) certified. NATEF is a division of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), which is the national institution for certifying all medium/heavy duty technicians.

The Diesel Technology Instructor is a NATEF Master Certified Auto Technician.

A basic mechanical ability, as well as previous mechanical experience, is helpful in the Diesel Mechanics studies, but not required. Students will be trained in a modern, clean training facility with an emphasis on quality of work as well as good work ethics.

Graduates of the Diesel Mechanics program can find work in new truck and farm and construction equipment dealerships, independent repair shops, specialty shops, fleet repair facilities, and a number of other diesel related facilities. Program graduates receive a diesel mechanics diploma which certifies them as having successfully completed the Diesel Mechanics program.

The WHAYNETECH Scholarship is available to high school seniors enrolling the College's Diesel Technology program. Contact the Financial Assistance Office for more information.:
