The Diesel Mechanics Program is a sequence of courses
designed to prepare students for careers in the medium/heavy
duty truck, farm equipment service, or construction equipment
repair. The program is offered at the Purchase Training
Center at 234 Pioneer Industrial Drive just north of Mayfield,
KY.
The program emphasizes a combination of theory and practical
applications necessary for successful employment. Program
completion requires 150 hours of co-op practicum work experience.
This program is NATEF (National Automotive Technicians'
Education Foundation) certified. NATEF is a division of
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), which is the national
institution for certifying all medium/heavy duty technicians.

A basic mechanical ability, as well as previous mechanical
experience, is helpful in the Diesel Mechanics studies,
but not required. Students will be trained in a modern,
clean training facility with an emphasis on quality of work
as well as good work ethics.
Graduates of the Diesel Mechanics program can find work
in new truck and farm and construction equipment dealerships,
independent repair shops, specialty shops, fleet repair
facilities, and a number of other diesel related facilities.
Program graduates receive a diesel mechanics diploma which
certifies them as having successfully completed the Diesel
Mechanics program.
The WHAYNETECH Scholarship is available to high school seniors
