Collision Repair Technology
(Email Craig Dickerson)

Auto body repairers are in great demand throughout the country. A good repair person is essential when it comes to repairing or rebuilding cars. A knowledge of the latest technology is essential in order to fill these positions. The changes in the industry have made it necessary for a person in the trade to become skilled in the use of fiberglass plastic, aluminum welding, and other water-based materials.

The auto body repairer is a highly skilled craftsperson who repairs damaged automobile and truck bodies, restores body metal to the original contours, and replaces non-repairable body parts.

The Collision Repair Technology Program at West Kentucky Community & Technical College provides instruction in all phases of automobile body and fender repair work, as well as refinishing. This extends from small body dents to the complete rebuilding of wrecked or damaged vehicles. Students are carefully supervised in all phases of their work and all jobs performed must adhere to commercial standards.

The curriculum is based on an industry validated and state-approved competency list; students proceed at their own rate until all competencies are mastered at a job entry level.
